Alexandra joined Guirguis OB/GYN practice in the summer of 2019. As a certified nurse-midwife, Alexandra attends births at Methodist Hospital and provides prenatal and women's health care visits at our Park Slope office.Prior to joining the practice, Alexandra worked at Mount Sinai Hospital from 2014-2019, first as a medical/surgical nurse then as an L & D nurse.
Alexandra graduated with honors from Wagner College in 2009 where she studied business and economics. Nine months after graduating from Wagner, she pursued her lifelong goal of becoming a peace Corps Volunteer where she served for two years in Albania as a community development volunteer. In that capacity, Alexandra worked closely with women and social workers in her small community to implement programs for gender equity, anti-human trafficking, and small business development. Her time as a volunteer made it clear she wanted to continue to work closely with women and children and after finishing her service as a volunteer she completed her nursing degree from SUNY Downstate and then went on to complete her Masters in Midwifery with honors from Frontier Nursing University in 2018. During her midwifery training, she attended home and birth center births and is familiar with supporting women who desire various birth options.
Alexandra is passionate about establishing a safe, trusting, and welcoming environment for patients. She loves answering all childbirth questions and working to understand her patient’s specific birth goals.
