About Dr. Jones

Heather Lauren Jones, MD, joined The Guirguis Obstetrics & Gynecology Group in 2019. She values the opportunity to care for women by developing connections with her patients and providing exceptional care at the practice locations in Park Slope, Bay Ridge, and Staten Island, New York.

Dr. Jones received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College, graduating with honors. She completed medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, she was awarded a scholarship for global health work with a focus on women’s health in Cape Town, South Africa. Additionally, she was afforded an opportunity to enhance her medical Spanish in Barcelona, Spain.

She completed her residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a program well-known for management of high risk pregnancies. During her time there, she published her research in the International Journal of Women’s Health. She continued her advocacy for reproductive health through her involvement with community organizations. Dr. Jones graduated with awards including “Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Worldwide “and “Outstanding Clinical Teaching by a Resident.”  She holds special interests in general obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery, global health, family planning, adolescent health and advocating for women’s rights.
